KASILA* is a fundraising
activity that supports education in the Philippines' most
marginalized areas and
encourages transformation of communities ravaged by poverty and
conflict into peaceful, progressive, and empowered stakeholders in
equitable development.
Through these programs, Move on Philippines contributes
to international efforts to address high illiteracy and drop-out rates,
improve learning of math, science and the English language particularly
at the elementary level, and address special problems in the
conflict-affected areas.
Proceeds from the KASILA Fundraiser will be used to fund programs
that increase access to quality education in areas
most affected by poverty and/or conflict.
* "Kasila" is a Maguindanaon term for chilli pepper. It describes the piquant burning taste of life's experiences for many children in poor areas of the Philippines. Many of these children go to school hungry, walk to and from school for several miles on foot, and do not have adequate books and learning materials.
